Another batch of 131 Nigerians would be deported from Libya
to Nigeria.
It was gathered that the returnees, consisting of males, females and infants are expected to arrive at the international wing of the Murtala Muhammed Airport, Lagos on Wednesday.
A source at the airport told NewsGazette that a chartered Boeing 787-800 aircraft belonging to Buraq Airlines will bring back the returnees.
The returnees who entered the country and resided illegally were caught in the civil war that has ravaged that North African country since the death of Muammar Mohammed Abu Minyar Gaddafi on October 20, 2011.
“The stranded Nigerians would be assisted back to the country through the humanitarian efforts of International Organisation for Migration (IOM) and special funding from European Union (EU) for reintegration process for the voluntary returnees after their futile attempts cross over to Europe through Libya.
“All the security agencies at the airport have been notified of the return of the Nigerians,” the source said.
The security agencies included the Nigeria Customs Service (NCS), Aviation Security (AVSEC), Nigeria Immigration Service (NIS), Nigeria Police, Department of State Service (DSS) and many others. It was also learnt that officials of the National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA) would be on hand to receive the deportees
