$1.68bn spent on food imports in nine months – CBN

The Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) has, in its latest sectoral utilisation of foreign exchange for the third quarter of 2021 report, said the federal government spent $1.68bn on food importation between January and September 2021.

The apex bank stated that the Nigerian government spent $163.60 million, $197.73 million, and $171.05 million in January, February and March, respectively, while $156.30 million, $135.72 million and $213.58 million were spent in April May and June, respectively.

The report also showed that $184.69 million, 188.88 million and 271.59 million were spent in July, August and September, respectively.
