The Federal Airports of Nigeria (FAAN) has carried a mock aircraft emergency simulation at the airside of the Murtala Muhammed International Airport, Lagos.

Speaking at the event, the director of airport operations, Capt. Rabiu Yadudu said the exercise was aimed at demonstrating FAAN’s readiness to ensure that all cases of aircraft emergencies would be controlled whenever the need arises.

He also said the exercise was meant to confirm that the agency “has the right equipment, manpower and strategy to perform its statutory duties.”

Besides, Yadudu said the exercise was necessary in ensuring the certification of the airport.

“FAAN hereby assures airport users and the general public that it will continue to deliver on its core mandates of ensuring safety and security at the nation’s airports,” he said.

Some of the agencies that participated in the exercise were the Nigerian Civil Aviation Authority (NCAA), Nigerian Aviation Handling Company Plc (nacho aviance), National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA), Lagos State Emergency Management Agency (LASEMA), the Nigerian Army, Port Health Services as well as the Lagos State Response Unit.
