Former governor of Akwa Ibom State and immediate past senate minority leader, Mr. Godswill Akpabio has said the All Progressives Congress (APC) will overrun Akwa Ibom State in 2019 the same way the late German dictator, Adolf Hitler invaded and took over Poland during World War 2

Akpabio who recently defected from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to the APC said just as “Warsaw saw war and war saw Warsaw” during the Hitler exploits, said election in the state will be war with victory on his side and his new political platform.

The former governor who stated this at the funeral Mass of his grandmother-in-law, Madam Mercy Uduoku Neife Igwenagu, at Christ the king Parish Aguobu-Owa, Ezeagu local government area of Enugu State said Akpabio said he chose an uncommon method for his defection because he was christened an uncommon transformer when he served as governor of the state.

“Recently, I had an occasion in Akwa Ibom State and this is what happened: I went just to make a floor declaration; others do it in the social media, others just sit in their offices, some do it by text messages that they have changed platform, what we call party. But in my own, I just decided to do it in an uncommon way because they call me uncommon transformer. It was watched in 59 countries and somebody asked what happened there, and I said just how it happened in Poland. When they asked Hitler’s minister for information how was the war in Poland? He said Warsaw saw war and war saw Warsaw.

“I will say that in the Ikot Ekpene arena, when I stepped out, this is my first function after that, Warsaw saw war and war saw Warsaw. We can’t talk politics in the church but in 2019 Warsaw shall see war and war shall see Warsaw. The return will be victory. May God grant us all victory.

“By the time I joined the (Igwenagu) family, we produced a local government chairman, we produced a commissioner for Urban Development in Enugu State, special Adviser, we produced a commissioner in the government of Anambra State, we produced a business man from the family whose name is everywhere and the daughters are doing well in their different fields.

“We don’t want to be very rich because when you are very rich and you want to die, you start crying because of your money in the bank.

“All of us have resolved that God should just give us the basic need like Mama was. We just want to be comfortable the way we are and now she is transiting to haven and she will be there as a saint to pray for the rest of the world, may God accept her in Jesus name. Amen,” he said.

Addressing a motley crowd at Ikot Ekpene on his return from the burial, Akpabio said he regretted making Udom Emmanuel governor of the state.

“Udom (Emmanuel) is a mistake that must be corrected in 2019. All hands must be on the deck to ensure the mistake is corrected for a people-oriented leadership under the ruling All Progressives Congress at the centre.

“I want to thank you for defying the rain to honour me as your leader and troop out in this multitude even at a very short notice. It goes to show the level of love and confidence you have in me as your leader and I promise to also reward you for your time and energy in this all-important project,” he said.

He said Emmanuel’s administration had failed the people thus forcing him to take a decisive action to correct the anomaly by defecting to the APC.

In his response, the governor challenged anyone of his traducers to come out with facts.

Speaking at Onna Sports Stadium in Eket senatorial district where he was endorsed for a second term by the people, the governor said he would not care to spend his personal resources to hire international, national, and local media to chronicle the truth about the affairs of the state.

“I have heard things, and I want to challenge anyone who thinks he has the truth to come out; I will use my personal money to hire CNN and other international media, AIT, Channels, NTA and AKBC. Let’s present facts to Nigerians, let’s see who will tell the truth and who will also tell a lie.

“However, the issue on the ground is Akwa Ibom. It’s about the development of this state; it’s about our children in public schools who are excelling in international competitions, it’s about the price of garri that we have drastically dropped, it’s about the unity of this state which we believe in,” he said.
