COVID-19 cases slide as NCDC records 386 new infections in 17 states

Nigeria yesterday recorded its lowest number of confirmed coronavirus infections with 386 new infections announced by the Nigeria Centre for Disease Control (NCDC).

The figure is lower than the 462 cases recorded on Friday and the 481 infections reported on Thursday.

The agency said in its on its verified Twitter handle @NCDCgov that the new infections were reported from 17 states and the FCT.

It said the update increased the number of coronavirus infections in the country to 43, 537.

The agency said the FCT reported 130 new cases; Lagos-65; Ondo-37; Osun-29; Plateau-23; Rivers-15; Enugu-14; Nasarawa-12; Bayelsa-11; Ebonyi-11; Ekiti-9; Oyo-8; Edo-8; Abia-6; Ogun-3; Katsina-3; Imo-1 and Adamawa-1.

It added that four deaths were recorded from the virus in the past 24 hours, bringing the total number of confirmed deaths 883.

According to the NCDC, out of a total 43, 537 infected persons so far, 20,087 had recovered while there were over 22, 000 active COVID-19 cases in the country as of the time of the update.

So far, Nigeria has tested about 280, 000 of its entire 200 million population.
