Stalwart of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) and former governor of Lagos State, Mr. Bola Tinubu has said that he would make known his interest in the 2023 presidential race after due consultation with his associates and constituents.

He stated this yesterday in Abuja after a closed-door meeting with leaders of the Northern Alliance Committee (NAC) who are mobilizing for his candidacy in 2023,

He Tinubu said he would not like to distract President Muhammadu Buhari about his (Tinubu’s) ambition, especially at a time the president was tackling the challenges bedeviling the country.

“I am not going to turn them down but I will still effectively and widely consult, particularly brainstorm with my friends and find a date to come out openly and tell Nigerians.

“But the President is still in office. I don’t want to distract him from all the challenges he might face today. So, don’t muddle the political waters. Consult, make our programme known to the people later. And the intention is clear. So, you can keep guessing.”

Also speaking, leader of leader of the group, Mr. Lawal Munir, endorsed Tinubu’s presidential bid saying the NAC resolved to work towards the actualisation of Tinubu’s ambition in 2023.

“The meeting ended very well. We are working for him. We are working for him because we know he will win the election when the time comes.”
