Air Peace yesterday took delivery of the fifth of its new Embraer 195-E2 aircraft to boost its operations during the Christmas and New Year holidays.
The aircraft marked 5N-BYJ arrived at the international wing of the Murtala Muhammed Airport and was welcomed with water salute.
Spokesman for the airline, Mr. Stanley Olisa told journalists at the airport that the latest new acquisition will further enable the airline to meet the growing air travel demand of Nigerians.
He also stated that Air Peace fleet expansion programme was aimed at achieving the carrier’s the no-city-left-behind philosophy.
He recalled that two weeks earlier, the airline brought in two new Airbus 320s to boost domestic and regional operations.
He said with the fifth brand new Embraer 196-E2 aircraft, the airline had eight more from the thirteen firm orders it made from the Brazilian aerospace conglomerate, Embraer, in 2019.
Olisa also disclosed that the remaining eight E195-E2s will be delivered next year.
Besides, he said the airline was planning to activate purchase rights for 17 of the same aircraft model once the initial 13 are delivered.
That, he said would bring the total to 30 ultra-modern aircraft.
“We are determined to give the flying public world-class flight experience and to achieve this, we decided to invest in state-of-the-art aircraft through strategic fleet expansion. Our fleets are increasingly becoming modern and it is all to help reduce the air travel burden of Nigerians”, Olisa added.
He assured Nigerians that there will be adequate flights during the festivities adding that many aircraft will be returning from overseas maintenance.
He said the equipment would be deployed to increase the frequencies of specific routes to shore up overall operations.
