The Nigerian Medical Association (NMA) has elected a professor of obstetrics and gynaecology and vice chancellor of the Federal University of Health Sciences, Azare, Bauchi State, Bala Audu, as its president.
He succeeds a consultant dermatologist, Dr Uche Rowland Ojinmah, who ran the affairs of the association since 2022.
The association disclosed this in a statement posted on its website.
It stated that the officers were elected at the 2024 annual delegates meeting held in Calabar, Cross Rivers State.
The other officers are the founder of the Benjamin Olowojebutu Foundation, Benjamin Olowojebutu, who emerged as the first vice president and the chairman of the Benue State chapter of the association, Usha Anenga, as second vice president.
Messrs Ben Egbo, Celestine Ugwoke, Harrison Omokhua, and Manir Bature were elected as secretary general, assistant secretary general, treasurer, financial secretary, and national publicity secretary respectively.
The NBA said the officers would lead the group for the next two years (2024-2026).
