Aero Contractors yesterday announced its reduction of airfare to N80, 000 on all its routes to enable Nigerians travel during the Christmas season.

The managing director of the airline, Capt Ado Sanusi, disclosed this in Lagos.

“We know what the people are going through because of the economic hardship because of the high prices of tickets considered to be very high.

“We at Aero Contractors have concluded to announce the Christmas initiative which is pocket-friendly. These prices are designed to allow Nigerians to travel to all destinations without paying too much

“We have also studied the economic situation of the country. We are not insensitive to the economic hardship that is going on. In the spirit of Christmas, which is the spirit of giving, we have decided to reduce our prices,” he said.

Sanusi also stated that the reduction in air fare will not affect the company’s bottom line.

“We are still going to be profitable. We are not reducing our prices and we would not be profitable. Everywhere in the world you see there are Christmas sales, there are summer sales. There are sales during holidays. The reason is to give back to your customers, to your loyal customers. I believe we should start doing that,” he said.

On the issue of weather as it affects flights, Sanusi said: “We have looked at the pattern over years on how the weather has been. Usually the weather in the afternoon, the dust comes in the afternoon and reduces visibility.

“What we have done is to see those particular times and then move our flights towards evening or night. That is when the weather improves. That is the pattern and that is how we are going to mitigate it and ensure that our routes or our reliability is intact.”
