The Federation Account Allocation Committee (FAAC) said it disbursed a total sum of N2.225 trillion to the three tiers of government as the federation account earned N3.635 trillion in August.
FAAC said in a statement issued by the spokesman in the office of the accountant general of the federation, Mr Bawa Mokwa that the August allocation represented an increase of N224.118 billion or 11.2 per cent compared with the N2.001 trillion distributed for July.
The statement said N2.225 trillion distributable revenue comprised statutory revenue of N1.478 trillion, VAT revenue of N672.903 billion, electronic money transfer levy (EMTL) revenue of N32.338 billion and exchange difference of N41.284 billion.
“Total gross revenue of N3.635 trillion was available in the month of August 2025. Total deduction for cost of collection was N124.839 billion while total transfers, interventions, refunds, and savings were N1.285 trillion,” Mokwa added.
A breakdown of the statutory allocation showed that from the N1.478 trillion revenue, the federal government was allocated N684.462 billion, states received N347.168 billion, and 774 local government councils got N267.652 billion while oil-producing states received N179.311 billion as 13 per cent derivation revenue.
FAAC also said the gross revenue available from VAT for the month of August was N722.619 billion as against N687.940 billion distributed in the preceding month, resulting in an increase of N34.679 billion.
“From that amount, the sum of N28.905 billion was allocated for the cost of collection and the sum of N20.811 billion given for transfers, intervention and refunds.
“The remaining sum of N672.903 billion was distributed to the three of tiers of government, of which the federal government got N100.935 billion, the states received N336.452 billion and local government councils got N235.516 billion.
“Accordingly, the gross statutory revenue of N2.838 trillion received for the month was lower than the sum of N3.070 trillion received in the previous month by N231.913 billion.
“From the stated amount, the sum of N94.587 billion was allocated for the cost of collection and a total sum of N1.265 trillion for transfers, intervention and refunds,” the statement said.
From the EMTL accrual, the federal government got the lion’s share of N4.851 billion, states N16.169 billion, and local governments N11.318 billion from the total of N32.338 billion.
From the N41.284 billion exchange difference, the federal government got N19.799 billion, states received N10.042 billion, local governments N7.742 billion, while oil-bearing states got N3.701 billion as derivation revenue.
