The global chief executive Association of Chartered Certified Accountants (ACCA) Ms. Helen Brand has said the body is commitment to developing the accountancy profession through its work on ethics and professional skills development and partnerships with key stakeholders to build capacity.
Speaking in Abuja during a courtesy visit to the minister of trade and investment, Mr. Okechukwu Enelamah, the ACCA chief explained ACCA’s role in developing the accounting profession globally, highlighting the work done with the qualification changes to prepare its members deliver more value, including engagements in the public sector across countries including Nigeria.
“ACCA is commitment to developing the accountancy profession through its work on ethics and professional skills development & partnerships with key stakeholders to build capacities among others,” she reiterated.
She also said ACCA’s commitment “is further demonstrated by a signed MOU between it and the Chartered Institute of Taxation (CITN) to provide local tax variants to incorporate Nigerian tax in the ACCA curriculum.”
In his remarks, Enelama appreciated the ACCA and pledged the ministry’s resolve to work with the professional body.
In his remark, a council member of the body, Taiwo Oyedele, spoke about his experience in using ACCA resources to upgrade the curriculum of the primary national accounting body in Nigeria to illustrate ACCA’s sustainability and value delivery in the Nigerian market.
