The minister of transportation, Mr. Rotimi Amaechi has been caught on a tape as allegedly saying that President Muhammdu Buhari does not read or listen to anyone.
The less than 10 seconds audio clip was posted on Twitter by Reno Omokiri, former aide to ex-President Goodluck Jonathan.
Amaechi who is the director general of the Buhari Campaign Organisation (BCO) and minister of transportation is quoted as saying: “The President is not listening to anybody. He doesn’t care. You can write anything you want. The President doesn’t care. Does he read?”
However, the circumstances under which Amaechi made the statement could not be ascertained but Omokri said he had evidence to show that the audio was genuine.
Omokri who threatened to release more audio clips should Amaechi deny the authenticity of the clip wrote: “We have more of the secretly recorded audios of Chibuike Amaechi, DG of the Muhammadu Buhari campaign, saying terrible things about Buhari’s government. I hear Amaechi wants to lie that he was referring to Goodluck Jonathan.
“Let him do that and I will release part two which clearly shows he referred to Buhari.”
He said the minister does not respect the president and went on to quote Amaechi as saying that the former president, Chied Olusegun Obasanjo is the only Nigerian leader he (Amaechi) respects.
“The man has no iota of respect for Buhari. In fact, he (Amaechi) hero worshipped former President Obasanjo in the tape and said he is the only worthy Nigerian leader. They know the truth but hide it,” stated Omokri.
The BCO director general was yet to react to the allegation.
However, the special assistant to Buhari on digital and new media, Mr. Tolu Ogunlesi, who reacted via his twitter handle, claimed that the recording was from 2014 and was, in fact, directed towards Jonathan.
“Audio from 2014 or so. At the height of Amaechi’s fight with GEJ. In the (paraphrased) words of Victor AD – WETIN YOU GAIN #DubaiStrategy,” he wrote.
