As Nasiru Ado Bayero takes over as Emir of Bichi

The Kano State government has named Aminu Ado Bayero and current emir of Bichi, as the new emir of Kano.

Bayero, son to late Ado Bayero, replaces Muhammad Sanusi 11 who was dethroned on Monday.

Announcing his appointment, the secretary to the state government, Mr. Usman Alhaji, said Bayero’s appointment was as a result of recommendations by the four kingmakers of Kano Emirate Council.

The four kingmakers present during the announcement were Alhaji Mutari Adnan, Sarkin Bai of Kano, Alhaji Abdullahi Sarki Yola, Alhaji Yusuf Labahani Cigari and Alhaji Bello Abubakar.

“Following the resolution of the State Executive Council at its emergency council meeting, I have been directed by his Excellency, Abdullahi Umar Ganduje, based on the provision of section 11 (1) of the Kano State Emirate Law 2019, based on the recommendation of the executive council, I hereby announce Alhaji Aminu Ado Bayero, the former emir of Bichi as the new emir of Kano as the 15th Emir of Kano,” said Alhaji.

Bayero was one the emir of the four emirates created last year in the wake of the clash between the state governor, Mr. Abdullahi Ganduje and the erstwhile emir.

Similarly, the government announced the appointment of Alhaji Nasiru Ado Bayero as the emir of Bichi.

He takes over from Aminu.

The special adviser to the governor on media, Mr. Salisu Tanko Yakasai who confirmed the appointment said: “His Excellency Dr Abdullahi Umar Ganduje OFR has approved the appointment of Alhaji Nasiru Ado Bayero as the new Emir of Bichi Emirate Council.”

Meanwhile, it was gathered that before Sanusi 11 was taken away amidst tight security and exiled to Nasarawa State, he was reportedly put under house arrest with the palace sealed off by the armed security men.
