Atiku appoints Saraki, Secondus, Shekarau, three others as advisers

As the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) blows the whistle for the commencement of the 2023 presidential and national assembly electioneering tomorrow, the presidential candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Mr. Atiku Abubakar, has appointed six more stalwarts of the party into his presidential campaign council.

The new entrants are the former senate presidents, Messrs Anyim Pius Anyim and Bukola Saraki, former governors of Kano and Osun states, Messrs Ibrahim Shekarau and Olagunsoye Oyinlola, former national chairman of the party, Mr. Uche Secondus and Mr. Ehigie Uzamere.

Atiku said in a statement issued yesterday in Abuja by his spokesman, Mr. Paul Ibe that the appointments were aimed at strengthening the team.

“Saraki is appointed as special envoy to the PDP presidential candidate, while Sen. Anyim Pius Anyim is appointed as special adviser.

“Others appointed as special advisers are Senator Ibrahim Shekarau; former Governor Olagunsoye Oyinlola of Osun and Senator Ehigie Uzamere.

“Former PDP national chairman, Mr. Uche Secondus has also been appointed as a technical adviser to the presidential candidate,” he said.

Ibe said all the appointment had taken effect immediately.
