President Bola Tinubu stumbled on while trying to get on the parade vehicle during the Democracy Day celebration at the Eagle Square in Abuja.
According to Vanguard report, the president had approached the vehicle shortly after he arrived at the facility.
The president lost his balance momentarily as he was about to embark on the parade vehicle.
However, the president, who was immediately assisted by his aides after the incident, resumed duties at the ongoing ceremony.
Reacting to the incident, the former vice president, Mr Atiku Abubakar expressed his sympathy for Tinubu saying “I hope all is well” with the president.
He took to his X and wrote: “I sincerely sympathise with President Bola Tinubu, @officialABAT, over this unfortunate incident as he was set to review the parade on Democracy Day. I do hope that all is well with him. -AA.”
Meanwhile, the presidential aide on social media, Mr Dada Olusegun, described the slip as a “mild misstep.’
In a post on his X handle Olusegun said: “Mr. President missed his step while climbing into the truck at the June 12 Democracy Day celebration and tripped. It was a mild misstep. He immediately went on with the ceremonial rounds. No issues.”
