Aviatrix Hub Training Institute has graduated its first batch of 13 students, who completed intensive three-month course on Basic and Advanced Flight Dispatch at its Lagos and Enugu study centres.
AHTI is Nigerian Civil Aviation Authority (NCAA)-licensed aviation training organisation (ATO).
Those who graduated from the Lagos centre were Lydia Olodun, Jude Olayiwola, Angela Chukwu and Afoma Onyechi.
Ibanga Matthew, Ibrahim Nathaniel, Orungbami Shola, Ibeabuchi Princewill and Aizenabor Benedicta, Ukpong Sunday, Anyanwu Henry, Chukwuka Godsglory and Ezenwa Anita graduated from the Enugu hub.
Speaking at the maiden graduation ceremony held in Lagos at the weekend, accountable manager /chief executive officer of the institute, Mrs. Victoria Adegbe, urged the graduates to be focused and steadfast in the profession saying flight dispatchers are very important to flight operations.
She said no flight takes off with information supplied by flight dispatchers.
She urged the graduates to always feel free to communicate with her in the course of the job.
“I run an open door policy,” she said.
In his speech, the chairman of the occasion and first president, Flight Dispatchers Association of Nigeria (FLIDAN), Mr. Taiwo Raji charged the dispatchers to be “job creators and not job seeker, problem fixers and not problem shooters.”
“Today is your day and we are all sharing the joy with you and my advice for you is to know that graduating here today is a great achievement in your chosen career.
“I would like to advise you to be of good character outside school life when you will be working with others in diverse groups or organisations.
“Your qualification can make you better with hard work and good conduct. Have the determination to be a work creator and not job seekers. Join, fix the challenges and not create more challenges, remember to always be good ambassadors of your family and the institute,” he added.
In his remarks, the representative of the President, Air Transport Services Senior Staff Association of Nigeria (ATSSSAN), Mr. Frances Akinjole commended Adegbe’s determination to start the school, adding that what “I see is the beginning of what I expect from her.”
Also speaking, the editorial page editor, The Nation newspapers, Mr. Sanya Oni urged the students to be the spark of light in their little corner as they journey into the labour market.
As for the CEO, he said she has the zeal, passion and determination to succeed.
