Honesty pays, says an old but still relevant adage as Bi-Courtney Aviation Services Limited (BASL), operators of the Murtala Muhammed Airport Terminal Two (MMA2), has commended two of its Aviation Security (AVSEC) personnel for honesty.
The staff are Messrs Babatunde Ajala and Henry Akhile who, the company said returned missing items to passengers.
The terminal operator said in a statement that Ajala who was deployed to the departure entrance 2 of the facility on April 12, picked up an accompanied brown leather bag.
“Out of curiosity, he picked up the bag having realised the owner was nowhere to be found. After close examination, N300, 000, two iPhones, one iPad and some complementary cards were found in the bag. He promptly escalated the matter to his supervisor who in turn swung into action.
“The owner of the luggage was later identified to be one Mr. Herbert O. Akindolire, an accountant general in Ondo State.
“He was contacted and thereafter summoned to confirm the ownership and content of the bag,” said the company.
It added that Akindolire expressed his gratitude to the staff for sincerity and to the terminal operator for handling the matter professionally.
Similarly, the company said Akhile rose to the occasion on April 6 when another passenger who was scheduled to travel on an Abuja-bound Dana Air flight found that his phone had been stolen.
BASL said Akhile’s timely intervention saved the day for the traveller.
“After the affected passenger raised the alarm Akhile promptly responded by carrying out comprehensive CCTV play back.
“The perpetrator was summarily apprehended, with the phone retrieved from him and handed over to the owner in a timely manner such that his flight schedule was not disrupted.
“The culprit was eventually handed over to the police for prosecution,” BASL stated.
BASL’s head of human resources, Mr. Ayoola Ajayi, while commending the two employees for their honesty said they proved to be worthy ambassadors.
