Placard-carrying sympathizers to the cause of Biafra have staged a demonstration at the Pall Mall Street, Westminster, a few metres from Buckingham Palace as President Muhammadu Buhari meets Queen Elizabeth II and other leaders of the Commonwealth nations.

Discussions began shortly after Queen Elizabeth II formally declared the Commonwealth Heads of Government Meeting (CHOGM 2018) open.

Some of the placards read: #Biafra Referendum Now; One Nigeria, One Colonial Slave; #BiafraReferendum; Biafra Must Go, Biafra Exit; A Call For Peaceful Biafra Referendum Is Not A Call For Imprisonment, etc.

The protesters who chanted songs requested for the release of the leader of the Independent People of Biafra (IPOB), Mr. Nnamdi Kanu, and a referendum on the fate of Biafra.
