Gunmen suspected to be herdsmen launched vicious attack on a wedding party in Kukum Daji village, Kaura local government area of Kaduna State killing 21 persons while 28 others were injured.
It was gathered that the gunmen opened fire on the party-goers as they danced to loud music in an open compound during the wedding celebrations on Sunday, July 19.
The president of the community, Mr. Yashen Titus who confirmed the inciden said 19 people died on the spot while two others later died at the hospital.
He also said the injured were taken to the Barau Dikko Teaching Hospital and other clinics in the state capital for treatment.
The bride and groom escaped unhurt while the gunmen fled immediately after the raid.
Spokesman for the Kaduna police command, Mr. Muhammad Jalinge confirmed the deadly attack but could not give any casualty figures saying they were still gathering information.
He said no arrests had been made.
