Cross dresser, Mr Idris Okuneye, popularly known as Bobrisky, has been detained at the Force Criminal Investigation Department (FCID) Annex, Alagbon, Lagos after his unsuccessful attempt to flee the country.

He was apprehended by the Nigeria Immigration Service (NIS) while attempting to cross the Seme border.

Spokesman for the NIS, Mr Kenneth Udo, confirmed that Bobrisky was intercepted at the Seme border.

Udo who described Okuneye as “a person of interest” said: “The service wishes to inform the public that Okuneye is a person of interest over recent issues of public concern.

“He is undergoing interrogation and will be handed over to the appropriate authorities for further action.

“The service assures the public that it will continue to be civil and professional in its statutory responsibility of manning the country’s borders.”

The service said Bobrisky was planning to “flee Nigeria” when s/he was apprehended.

Spokesperson for the FCID, Ms Aminat Mayegun, confirmed on Tuesday that Bobrisky was being held in their custody.

The cross dresser has been at the storm centre after an activist VeryDarkMan (VDM) shared a purported audio conversation where the cross dresser claimed that she paid some EFCC officials N15 million to drop money laundering charges against her.

He later described the viral recording as “fake” and threatened to sue VDM for alleged defamation.
