Nigeria, on Wednesday recalled its high commissioner to South Africa, Mr. Kabiru Bala.
It was gathered that the decision was taken at a morning meeting with President Muhammadu Buhari, the vice president, Prof. Yemi Osinbajo and the minister of foreign affairs, Mr. Geoffrey Onyeama, at the Presidential Villa.
The move is meant to register displeasure with the South African authorities over the ongoing xenophobic attacks on Nigerians resident in that country.
A source also said Nigeria would pull out of the World Economic Forum on Africa, scheduled for Cape Town, South Africa, from September 4 to 6.
By this action, Nigeria will follow the examples of Congo, Rwanda and Malawi, which have since pulled out of the Summit.
