President Muhammadu Buhari yesterday suspended the managing director of the Nigerian Ports Authority (NPA), Ms Hadiza Usman, and approved the recommendation of the ministry of transportation for the setting up of an administrative panel of inquiry to investigate the management of the agency.
The suspension followed the recommendation of panel set up by the minister of transportation minister, Mr. Rotimi Amaechi.
The president also approved the appointment of NPA’s executive director, finance and administration, Mr. Mohammed Bello-Koko as managing director in acting capacity.
This was contained in a statement issued by the presidential spokesman, Mr. Garba Shehu.
He said the panel would be headed by the director, maritime services of the ministry while the deputy director, legal of the same ministry will serve as secretary while “other members of the panel will be appointed by the minister.”
