The presidential candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Mr. Atiku Abubakar, has floored his main rival, Mr. Bola Tinubu of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Katsina, home state of President Muhammadu Buhari.
According to the results of last Saturday’s presidential election announced by Katsina State returning officer, Mr. Muazu Abubakar, the PDP candididate polled a total of 489,045 votes ahead of Tinubu who got 482, 283, a difference of 6,762.
Rabiu Kwankwaso of New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP) got 69,386 votes.
Although Tinubu won in 21 local government areas, Atiku led the tally in 13 local government areas.
The state has 34 local government areas.
Atiku, an indigene of Adamawa State, regards Katsina State as his second home because of his relationship with the late Maj. Gen. Shehu Yar’Adua.
