Buhari returns from vacation, transmits letter to national assembly

President Muhammadu Buhari yesterday returned from a 10-day vacation in London.

The personal assistant to the president on new media, Mr. Bashir Ahmaad, who announced Buhari’s return via his  twitter handle @Bashir Ahmaad wrote: President@Buhari returns to Abuja from UK, after a 10-working day vacation.

Buhari, who left for London on August 31, was received on arrival at the Presidential Wing of the Murtala Muhammed International Airport, Abuja by top government officials and his supporters.

While he was in London, the vice president, Prof. Yemi Osinbajo presided in acting capacity.

Meanwhile, the president has written to the senate and the House of Representatives intimating them of his return and resumption of work.

The senior special assistant to the president on media and publicity, Garba Shehu, disclosed this in a statement made available to journalists.

In a letter titles ‘Resumption of Office’ the president wrote:

“In compliance with Section 145 of the 1999 Constitution (as amended), I write to intimate the Senate (House of Representatives) that I have resumed my functions as the President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria with effect from today, Saturday 18th August, 2018,after my vacation.

“Please accept, Distinguished Senate President, (Hon. Speaker, House of Representatives) the assurances of my highest consideration.”
