Access Bank Plc has taken it corporate social responsibility (CSR) beyond compliance with the spirit of the law, ethical standards and national or international norms by modernising a dilapidated classroom block at the Obele Community Senior Secondary School in Surulere, Lagos.
The renovated building contains three mega-size classrooms, two offices and a toilet.
The bank’s head, conduct and compliance group, Mr. Pattison Boleigha, said at the unveiling of the building said Access Bank “has a culture of giving back to the society.”
“Today, it is Obele Community Senor Secondary School’s turn to enjoy this special service from Access Bank through its staff members,” he added.
In her remarks, the director, co-curricula, science and technology, Education District IV, Mrs. Muyinat Abimbola, praised the bank for placing value on education.
Abimbola who was represented at the event by the tutor-general/permanent secretary, Education District IV, Mrs. Lola Are-Adegbite also said the cozy environment offered by the new building would redefine education for the students.
“This responsibility has been made easier with the emergence of old students association, non-governmental organisations and some other corporate organisations coming to the rescue. Among them all, Access Bank stands tall,” she said.
She added that increase in school enrollment had made the state government to embark on building and renovating schools.
