With global travel now open to everyone and more options to book flights, Dana Air has signed an interlining agreement with ASKY Airline.
Interline agreement is the most fundamental part of airline cooperation and partnerships which occurs when two airlines agree to allow connecting flights between them to be placed on the same ticket.
Dana also signed an aircraft partnership agreement with ASKY to add some new generation aircraft to its (Dana’s) fleet to boost its strategic route and fleet expansion programme.
Speaking during the signing ceremony in Lagos, Dana Air’s group managing director and chief executive officer, Mr. Jacky Hathiramani described the deal as a “bold step.”
“We have taken a bold step towards achieving our strategic route and fleet expansion program. With this partnership, we shall be adding some brand new aircraft to our fleet soon.
“We have also had advanced talks with some other notable aircraft manufacturers and very soon, some of our aircraft outside the country on maintenance will also be arriving. This is part of our desire to provide options for our guests who have also been requesting us to consider some under-served cities in Nigeria.
“We want to assure our guests of our commitment towards providing safe, reliable, affordable and world-class air transport services in Nigeria,” he said.
In his remarks, the chief executive officer of ASKY Airlines, Mr. Ahadu Simachew described Dana as an airline with “strong, passionate and creative management team.”
“Dana Air having survived the sundry issues in the aviation industry for ten years and still waxing stronger appears to us as the most experienced and well-managed airline in Nigeria, with a very strong, passionate and creative management team. We are happy to have reached an agreement and we believe this is good for Nigeria and Africa,” he said.
ASKY Airlines is a passenger airline founded on the initiative of West African governments, and has its head office in Lomé, Togo.
It operates across several West and Central African countries, operating out of its hub at Lomé-Tokoin Airport.
Formed after the death of Air Afrique in 2002, ASKY Airlines which launched its first revenue flight on January 15, 2010 is owned 40 per cent by Ethiopian Airlines, its technical and strategic partner under a management contract.
