The Presidential Election Petitions Tribunal on Monday admitted 48 videos presented by the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and its candidate in the February 23 presidential election, Mr. Atiku Abubakar, to prove the existence of a server which was used for the presidential election.
The clips, which were produced by the petitioners’ 40th witness, Mr. Segun Showunmi, were to back some allegations raised in their petition challenging the outcome of election
Three of the video clips played included an interview which the Resident Electoral Commissioner of Akwa Ibom State, Mr. Mike Igini, said in an interview on Sunday Politics programme of Channels Television that the results of the election would be transmitted to the server of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).
The defence team opposed the content of the video on the grounds that Iginni is not the spokesperson for INEC.
Another one showed Army officials denying Buhari’s claim that his West African School Certificate was with the Army.
The third one showed INEC chairman, Prof. Mahmood Yakubu, meeting with members of Computer Professionals Practitioners in Nigeria, expressing hope that electronic transmission would be deployed during the 2019 poll.
The five man panel led by Justice Mohammed Garba admitted the documents and dismissed the objections raised by all the respondents on the grounds that the documents sought to be tendered were in line with the agreement reached by parties and adopted by the tribunal.
Earlier, three witnesses, Babagana Kukawa, Hon. Abana Pogu and Mr. Suleiman Mohammed Bulama from Borno and Yobe states had testified that the All Progressives Congress (APC) used soldiers to attack and injure PDP agents.
The witnesses also alleged that village and district heads were also used to intimidate and threaten voters to vote for the candidate of the APC, President Muhammadu Buhari or risk being ejected from their farmlands.
