As CNG blasts Buhari for inability to secure Nigeria

As protests against police brutality spread across Nigeria in the last 11 days, wife of the president, Mrs. Aisha Buhari has appealed to her husband and the service chiefs to save the country.

The first made the appeal at a time youths in Katsina State slammed the president for failure to save Nigerians.

Taking to her verified twitter handle @aishambuhari yesterday, Mrs. Buhari created new hashtag #Achechijamaa which means ‘save the people’ and shared it with a music video highlighting insecurity and killings in the north.

The music video in Hausa language showed images of security service chiefs in meetings with President Buhari at the Presidential Villa.

The translation goes thus: “Please in the name of God, pay attention and intervene on our plight. The North is crying! Our blood is being shed! Our people are being killed! Our properties and wealth are being destroyed; Baba, Please intervene; Baba Please protect us!”

Also reacting to the worsening insecurity in the country, Katsina State youths under the auspices of Coalition of Northern Groups (CNG) said spate of killings, banditry, kidnapping and rape orchestrated by bandits in the state points to the president’s inability to secure the country.

The CNC said the atrocities committed by bandits in Batsari and Faskari local government areas of the state, have unforeseen economic, social and political implications that if not tackled will engulf the entire state.

In a communiqué issued yesterday by the northwest vice chairman of CNG, Mr. Jamilu Aliyu, after a roundtable discussion on how to end banditry, kidnapping and rape in Katsina State held in Katsina, the group said the government’s attempts to reassert public confidence with repeated rhetoric of ‘being on top of the situation’ had waned as killings and kidnapping for ransom become a daily occurrence in most parts of the state.

“The administration of President Muhammadu Buhari has failed the nation and in particular, Katsina State in the vital area of improving citizens lives and securing property. Many of our parents and children are still in captivity and many of them are widows and orphans.

“The rise in the spate of banditry and kidnapping in places such as Faskari and Batsari lately has become a major trying point for everyone but the authorities have remained detached from the reality,” said Aliyu.
