The Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria (FAAN) has temporarily shut down the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport, Abuja after a private jet operated by Nest Oil Ltd skidded of the runway.
FAAN said the runway will be closed for 30 minutes to “enable the Authority take safety precautions.”
“The aircraft lost its landing gear in the process but all hands are on deck to put the situation under control and normalcy would be restored within the hour,” said the general manager, corporate affairs, Mrs. Henrietta Yakubu.
Owned by Dr. Ernest Azudialu-Obiejesi, Nest Oil Ltd started as the oil and gas arm of the Obijackson Group in 1991.
The company’s original focus was blending and marketing petroleum products, but the new company was compelled to re-analyse its focus in the face of more established foreign competitors with easier access to funding.
From its operations base in Abuloma, Port Harcourt, Rivers State, Nest Oil offers services in pipelines/flow lines construction, maintenance and repairs, horizontal directional drilling for pipeline construction, pressure vessel manufacturing, steel structures fabrication, production facilities-new build, upgrade, operations and maintenance, shipside dry dock services, dredging, civil works and road construction, oil and gas exploration, etc.
