The Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria (FAAN) has called for cooperation in dealing with rising risks and terrorist attacks.

The managing director of the agency, Mr. Saleh Dunoma made the call in Lagos while declaring open the maiden edition of the International Civil Aviation Organisation- (ICAO) sponsored Risk Management Workshop held at the Aviation Security Training Centre (ASTC), FAAN Training School, Lagos.

Dunoma who was represented at the event by the agency’s director of engineering services, Mr. Salisu Daura, said the “workshop is coming at the appropriate time considering the fact that civil aviation is increasingly being targeted by terrorists due to the immense impact it has on human victims, material damage and the integrity of a nation.”

He said risk management is a critical variable in the aviation industry and enjoined all hands to be on deck to tackle any threat to aviation security.

Commenting on the ASCT, Dunoma said the FAAN/ICAO Aviation Security Training Centre has the capacity to meet the training needs for the West and Central African regions and contribute substantially to the development and improvement of aviation security training globally.

It would be recalled that on October 9, 2018, ICAO certified and designated FAAN Training School as an ICAO Aviation Security Training Centre.
