FCT issues C of O for construction of N92.123bn second Abuja Airport runway

The federal government has handed over a certificate of occupancy for 12, 000 hectares of land to the ministry of aviation for the construction of the second runway at the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport, Abuja.

Spokesperson for the Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria (FAAN), Mrs. Faithful Hope-Ivbaze, said in a statement that the FCT minister, Mr. Muhammed Bello gave the document to the minister of aviation, Mr. Hadi Sirika, on Monday, June 6.

She quoted the director of planning, research and statistics in the ministry of aviation, Mr. Kabiru Shehu who represented Sirika as saying that one of the key projects to be executed on the land is the second runway

The second runway project was awarded to China Civil Engineering Construction Corporation Nigeria Limited (CCECC) for N92.123 billion and the site was handed over to the company also on Monday.

Beside the runway, the other projects to be executed  as part of the aviation roadmap on the land include maintenance repair and overhaul centre, aviation leasing company, agro-allied cargo terminals, aerotropolis or airport city, national carrier, Africa Aerospace and Aviation University (AAAU).
