The minister of state for aviation, Senator Hadi Sirika, has approved the appointment, promotion and redeployment of top management staff of the Nigerian Airspace Management Agency (NAMA) to ensure increased efficiency and effectiveness.
In the exercise, Mr. Farouk A Umar has been confirmed as substantive director of safety electronics and engineering service; Mr. Gabriel Akpen who was the general manager, search and rescue/civil military co-ordination has been elevated to director of operations.
The directorates of human resources and administration have equally been merged, with former general manager, customer services/servicom, Mr. Maira Bashir, taking over as director of human resources and administration.
Similarly, Mr. Umoh Aniefiok, formerly of the finance and accounts department at FAAN has been redeployed to NAMA as general manager, accounts while Mr. Khalid Udoh Emele is to head the public affairs department of the agency as general manager.
Also newly appointed are Miss Kaosarat Fawehinmi, deputy general manager, project management office; Mr. Bajie Abang, deputy general manager, security unit and Mr. Solomon Ohiomah as deputy general manager, industrial relations and discipline.
The minister said the appointments and redeployment were made to fill vacancies which had been created as a result of earlier promotions, retirements and reliefs, and to further boost staff morale.
Commenting on the appointments, the managing director of NAMA, Capt. Fola Akinkuotu said they were made to reposition and streamline NAMA towards enhanced productivity and to ensure that all projects and programmes of the agency are properly executed bearing in mind accountability and adherence to timelines.
Akinkuotu who addressed the management team thanked the entire agency’s staff for their continued support and charged the incoming appointees to ensure service excellence and efficiency within the system.
He also enjoined them to ensure compliance with all government directives particularly the executive order.
