The minister of aviation, Mr. Hadi Sirika, on Wednesday, announced the approval given by the federal executive council to lease three aircraft for the takeoff of the proposed Nigeria Air.
The minister disclosed this to journalists at the close of the federal executive council meeting chaired by President Muhammadu Buhari at the council chambers of the presidential villa, Abuja.
He said the airline would begin with three Airbus- and Boeing-made aircraft.
In addition, he said the airline would be operating on the domestic routes initially before going regional and intercontinental.
On the definite date the new airline would take off, Sirika said “we will announce commencement soon.”
