The minister of state for aviation, Senator Hadi Sirika, has approved the release of promotion of senior management staff in the Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria (FAAN).
Spokesman for FAAN, Mrs. Henrietta Yakubu who stated this in Lagos disclosed that 13 deputy general managers had been promoted to general managers.
She said the staff went through the promotion process and the successful ones were elevated.
Yakubu added that the staff would be given postings accordingly.
It would be recalled that in October 2016, about 30 senior employees of the agency were sacked.
Those affected included directors, general managers and deputy general managers.
In the exercise, no fewer than 10 general managers who were said to have been promoted without any merit were demoted.
Some of the general managers were said not to have had the requisite qualifications for the sensitive positions they held.
Many of them, including deputy general managers, were said to have left the university for about 10 years prior to their appointment 10 years and could not have qualified for the of positions they held.
Also, many directors were affected by the sack, while an acting director of finance was demoted to Grade Level 10 and redeployed to the department of information communications and technology.
Equally, some of the staff who were promoted undeservedly to Grade Levels 17 and 16 were downgraded to Levels 10, 12 and 14.
