In compliance with the executive order issued by the acting president, Prof. Yemi Osinbajo, the Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria (FAAN) said six agencies have been approved to interface with passengers at airport terminals in the country.
In a signed statement issued in Lagos FAAN gave the name of the approved organizations as the Nigeria Immigration Service (arrival and departure), Nigeria Customs Service (arrival) and the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (arrival and departure).
The others are State Security Services (SSS), Explosive Ordinance Disposal Unit and Nigeria Agricultural Quarantine Services (cargo terminal only).
FAAN further stated that the Nigeria Immigration Service (NIS), Nigeria Customs Service (NCS) and National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) must always appear in uniform and un-detachable name tags
The statement hinted that the SSS is for intelligence gathering while the Explosive Ordinance Disposal Unit will function on call at the baggage hall.
The statement urged all the affected agencies to ensure strict compliance with the directive.
