The Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission (ICPC) has honoured an employee of the Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria (FAAN), Mrs. Josephine Ugwu, for returning $12, 200, 000 to its owner in the course of carrying out her duties.

Ugwu was presented with Integrity Award at a summit on ‘Diminishing Corruption in the Public Sector’ jointly organised by the office of the secretary to the government of the federation and ICPC held in Abuja on Tuesday.

Ugwu who had a handshake with President Muhammadu Buhari at the event was also given a new apartment in Lagos.

It would be recalled that in 2015, Mrs. Ugwu while carrying out her duties as a cleaner at the international wing of the Murtala Muhammed Airport, Lagos found $12,200,000 in a toilet and handed it over to FAAN officials who, in turn, gave it back to the owner.

Ugwu was subsequently given automatic employment by FAAN. Prior to the incident, she had on many occasions found and returned several sums of money and some other items and returned them to their owners.
