FG removes chief executives of aviation parastatals

The federal government has relieved the chief executives of the Nigerian Airspace Management Agency (NAMA), Nigerian Meteorological Agency (NIMET), Nigerian College of Aviation Technology (NCAT), Zaria and Accident Investigation Bureau (AIB) of their appointments.

In a statement signed by the minister of state for aviation, Senator Hadi Sirika, the former director general of NCAA, Capt. Fola Akinkuotu takes over from Mr. Emma Anasi as the managing director of NAMA.

Anasi had been working in acting capacity since March 2016 when the former managing director, Mr. Ibrahim Abdulsalam, was rounded up by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission for alleged corruptions.

Akinkuotu who is a transport pilot and flight and aircraft maintenance engineer was formerly the rector of the International Aviation College, Ilorin.

Until his new appointment, he was the chief executive officer of the embattled Aero.

At NIMET, Prof. Sani Abubakar Mashi replaces Dr. Anthony Anuforom as the director general.

A professor of geography with specialty in environmental application of remote sensing, Mashi is currently a deputy vice chancellor at the University of Abuja

In the new arrangement, Capt. Abdulsalam Mohammed takes over from Capt. Samuel Caulcrick as the rector of NCAT.

An alumnus of NCAT, Mohammed who was the former managing director of the defunct Discovery Air, is a civil aviation trainer and examiner with accreditation by NCAA.

At AIB, Mr. Akinola Olateru replaces Dr. Felix Abali as commissioner of AIB.

An engineer of international repute, Olateru is a trained air accident manager and certified safety officer with aircraft maintenance engineering licenses in Nigeria, USA and the United Kingdom.

However, the director general of NCAA, Capt. Muhtar Usman and the managing director of the Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria (FAAN), Mr. Saleh Dunoma retained their appointments.
