Former governor of Oyo State, Mr. Adebayo Alao-Akala, has been reported dead.
He is said to have died in the early hours of Wednesday in Igbomoso at the age of 71.
A stalwart of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Akala was governor between 2007 and 2011.
Earlier, he served as deputy governor under former governor, Mr. Rashidi Ladoja between 2003 and 2006 when his principal was impeached and consequently became the acting governor for eleven months.
Born on June 3, 1950 in Ogbomoso in Ogbomoso North Local Government Area of Oyo State, Alao-Akala had his elementary school at Osupa Baptist Day School, Ogbomoso before proceeding to Kamina Barracks Middle School, 5th Battalion of Infantry in Tamale, Ghana.
