The governor of Kano State, Mr. Abdullahi Ganduje has outlawed the dichotomy that had existed between the Higher National Diploma (HND) and B.SC holders in the state.
The governor who announced this on Wednesday to commemorate Workers’ Day said the abolition was part of the government’s effort to boost the morale of civil servants in the state.
He said his administration was working assiduously in enhancing the welfare of civil servants.
Ganduje explained that arrangements had been completed for the implementation of the new minimum wage of N30, 000
He said his administration will continue to give priority to the welfare of civil servants and all residents of the state.
In his reaction, the chairman of the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) in the state, Mr. Kabiru Ado-Minjibir, lauded the efforts of the state government in enhancing welfare and working condition of civil servants.
He appealed to the government to implement payment of allowances for workers of state tertiary institution as applicable to their colleagues in the federal civil service.
Ado-Minjibir also commended the governor for paying workers’ salaries promptly.
He therefore urged civil servants to reciprocate government gestures by being committed to duty through efficient productivity and better service delivery.
