The governor of Akwa Ibom State, Mr Umo Eno, has assured indigenes of the state in the United States of administration’s partnership with them.
The governor stated this in a recorded video message played to the audience during the gala night and fundraising dinner held as a part of the 36th Annual Convention of the Akwa Ibom State Association of Nigeria (AKISAN) held in California, USA.
He said he had demonstrated his commitment to the diaspora community through the appointment of Miss Linda Umoh and Dr. Frank Ekpenyong as senior special assistant, diaspora affairs and senior special assistant, information and communications technology and digital services, respectively.
He charged Akwa Ibom citizens in the US to prepare to offer their services back at home.
The governor appreciated AKISAN for its contribution to the development of the state through diaspora remittances, medical missions, and other activities.
In his welcome remarks, the national president of AKISAN, Mr Itoro Akpaniquot commended Eno for his support to the association and for sending a delegation to the convention.
He specifically appreciated the governor for inviting them to Akwa Ibom dialogue and factoring their inputs into the ARISE Agenda.
Akpaniquot promised the support of the association to the administration.
During the dinner, fund as raised to help the association fund its yearly scholarship award for indigent students in Akwa Ibom State.
