The governor of Akwa Ibom State, Mr Umo Eno said Ibom Air will deepen the economic growth and development of the state by enhancing air travel and connectivity, creating job opportunities, and boosting tourism.
The airline’s general manager, marketing and communication, Ms Aniekan Essienette disclosed this in a statement.
She said the governor made the declaration during a recent during the airline’s recent delivery of its second Airbus A220-300 at the Victor Attah International Airport, Uyo.
“The arrival of our second Airbus A220 reiterates the state’s unwavering commitment to advancing our aviation sector. This addition aligns with our strategic vision for Ibom Air and supports the economic growth and development of Akwa Ibom State by enhancing air travel and connectivity, creating job opportunities, and boosting tourism,” the governor was quoted as saying.
Also speaking, the chairman of the carrier, Mr Imoabasi Jacob, commended the resilience and doggedness of the airline’s management.
For his part, the chief executive officer of the airline, Mr Mfon Udom, emphasised the significance of the additional aircraft to the fleet.
“We are thrilled to welcome our second wholly owned Airbus A220. This aircraft will significantly boost our capacity in response to the growing service demand,” he said.
He thanked Fidelity Bank and Union Bank that had continued to partner with the airline.
“We appreciate the tremendous support shown to us by our valued customers recently as we bore through flight disruption. We are committed to delivering remarkable improvements moving forward,” he added.
Also speaking, executive director of Fidelity Bank, Mr Kevin Ugwuoke, who represented the chief executive officer, Mrs Nneka Onyeali-Ikpe, remarked on behalf of the consortium of financiers saying: “We share a common passion for Akwa Ibom state, and we are delighted to join them on this journey.”
The Airbus A220-300 is famed for its fuel efficiency, environmental sustainability, passenger comfort, flight range of up to 3600 nautical miles (6700 km), 38.71m (127 ft) long fuselage, a seating capacity of 132, that is 5-abreast passenger capacity seats (one row of seats from A, B, C and D), 12 premium economy seats and 120 economy seats.
