The five-day 2018 Mission Conference of Grace Covenant Ministries, East-West Road, Port Harcourt, begins, May 2, 2018 according to Winston Iwo, presiding bishop of the church and special adviser on Religious Affairs to Governor Nyesom Wike of Rivers State.
The conference, with the theme “So Send I You”, aims at encouraging Christians to take the gospel to their neighbours, empower them through gift items including food and clothing, provision of portable water, educational opportunities, needful infrastructure, etc.
Speaking in Port Harcourt, Iwo said bishops John Bienose of Redeemed Christian Church of God, William Daka of Likeminds Christian Centre and Goddy Ogwama will minister at the conference.
He also said there will be a special ministers’ conference with focus on evangelism, slated for Saturday and a thanksgiving service for Sunday to mark the event.
“The mandate of the ministry is to take the gospel to the unreached people’s groups within and outside the shores of Nigeria,” said Iwo, who was a bishop of Church of God Mission for over 20 years before founding Grace Covenant Ministries in 1997.
Aside the yearly conference, Iwo has travelled far and wide for mission in Nigeria and Africa.
He and his team of missionaries were in Liberia for the second time in March 2016, where they took the gospel to some remote communities including Tieni, a Muslim-dominated area and provinces of Ganta, a city bordering with Guinea and Cote d’Ivoire and to Monrovia, capital of the country.
Before re-directing his focus on West Africa in 2013, Iwo’s passion for mission took him to Kenya in East Africa, where he spent a couple of years.
The ministry earlier spent 13 years in remote communities of Taraba State, introducing Christ to the people.
