Gunmen on Tuesday night attacked Green Field University located along the Abuja-Kaduna highway in Chikun local government area of Kaduna State and whisked away unspecified number of students.

It was learnt that the brigands, who attacked the private institution around 10.30 pm, shot and wounded a security guard.

Spokesman for the Kaduna State police command, Mr. Muhammad Jalige confirmed the incident.

He said the number of students abducted could not be ascertained immediately.

He said a row call was being taken to ascertain the identity and number of missing students.

Jalige said the police and the military moved to the school immediately after they got wind of the attack.

He said the police would update the public on the number of students abducted as soon as it is confirmed.

The incident comes barely 40 days after 39 students of the Kaduna-based Federal College of Forestry Mechanisation, Afaka, were kidnapped.
