Nigeria’s House of Representatives has selected Dana Air as the official airline for the 2016 Legislative Summit on Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) slated for Abuja on November 22-23.
The summit with the theme ‘Understanding and Stimulating Legislative Roles and Responsibility in Achieving the Sustainable Goals in Nigeria,’ is organized in partnership with 1stDevHub Nigeria and other relevant international development and SDGs Advocate.
Commenting on the choice of Dana Air as the official airline for the event, the carrier’s accountable manager, Mr. Obi Mbanuzuo said “we are proud to have been announced as choice airline for this year’s summit and as always” adding “we will give our best to provide a comfortable and hitch-free flight services to all the delegates.’’
Also commenting, the consultant to the House Committee on SDGs and Team Leader, Mrs. Christina Ude, noted that “the world today is more interconnected than ever before and the SDGs can only be realized with a strong commitment to national and global partnership.”
In his reaction, the senior partner of 1st DevHub Nigeria and coordinator of the summit, Mr. Kenneth Nwokoro said the event would s focus on improving legislators’ understanding of the SDGs and how their roles impact on the attainment of the goal in Nigeria.
He said the United Nations Assistant Secretary General for Economic and Social Affairs, Mr. Thomas Gass will be the key speaker, Pro. Kevin Urama of the African Development Bank, Abidjan will chair the event while Nigeria’s vice president Prof. Yemi Osinbajo will be the guest of honour.
