The Osun State governor-elect, Mr. Ademola Adeleke, has protested against the appointment of 30 civil servants as permanent secretaries by the governor, Mr. Adegboyega Oyetola whose tenure expires on Monday, November 28.
Adeleke said those appointed will be treated as political appointees who will automatically follow the outgoing governor out of public service from November 28 when he (Adeleke) would take over.
Oyetola had yesterday (Thursday) approved the appointments saying the appointees would fill the existing vacancies in the state civil service.
The announcement was contained in a statement signed by the head of service, Dr Festus Oyebade.
The new permanent secretaries are: 1 Engr. Kamoru A. Babalola, 2 Engr. S. O. Ajao, 3 Mr. M. A. K. Jimoh, 4 Mr. R. A. Popoola, 5. Dr. D. O. Ogunrinade, 6 Mrs. J. K. Odediran, 7 Mr. Oyesiku Adelu, 8. Mr. Babajide Falade, 9. Mrs. Funmilola Oyewole, 10. Mr. O.A. Ogundun, 11. Mrs. Bukola Aderibigbe, 12. Mrs. Taiwo Oladunjoye, 13. Dr.A. A Oni, 14. Mr. Lekan Babalola, 15. Mrs. Sola Akinsola, 16. Mr. K.N. Akintola, 17. Mr. J. S. Adekomi, 18 Mrs Jibola Falode, 19 Mis AY Esan, 20. Mrs C O Falade, 21) Mr C O Fasina, 22. In his reaction, the PDP governor-elect, Mr. Ademola Adeleke, warned those appointed against taking up the posts.
Adeleke, in a statement by his spokesman, Mr. Olawale Rasheed, threatened that any of the appointed civil servant that concedes to the appointment will be sacked by Monday.
“Any coordinating director who accept a permanent secretary appointment from outgoing Governor Gboyega Oyetola will exit the service from November 28th, Osun State governor-elect, Senator Ademola Adeleke has warned.
“The governor-elect affirmed that taking such appointments at this last minute indicated the readiness of those directors to exit the state service.
“We want to put on records that those who accept the appointments should be ready to leave the service whether or not their service tenure has reached statutory age. The occupants will be treated as political appointees who will automatically follow the outgoing Governor out of public service from November 28.
“At the same time, those who still want to remain in service of Osun state government should decline the Greek gift from the outgoing Governor. We affirm that no waiver will be entertained in sacking from office any kangaroo permanent secretary.”
