The National Bureau of Statistics (NBS) has released data showing that Lagos State accounts for 12.31 per cent of the total domestic debt stock.
This was disclosed by the bureau in its quarterly data release published on its website.
The report also put the federal government’s domestic debts at N16.51 trillion and the states and FCT domestic debt stock, N4.12 trillion with Lagos state accounting for 12.31 per cent.
The data also showed Jigawa State as contributing the least, 0.77 per cent to the total domestic debts.
NBS also stated that the country’s total public debt portfolio stood at N33.11 trillion as of March 31, 2021.
Further disaggregation of Nigeria’s total public debt showed that N12.47 trillion or 37.67 per cent of the debt was external while N20.64 trillion or 62.33 per cent was domestic.
