Five more patients recovered from the coronavirus disease in Lagos and have been discharged from the Infectious Disease Hospital, Yaba, bringing the total to 55.
The governor of Lagos State, Mr. Babajide Sanwo-Olu, who announced this in a tweet on Sunday, said the discharged patients were four females and one male.
“As we commemorate the sacrifice of love this Easter, I bring to you more awesome news from our isolation facilities.
“Today, five more patients; four females, and one male have been discharged to reunite with their families and society.
“With the newly-discharged patients, we now have a total of 55 people that have been successfully managed for COVID-19 at our isolation facilities and discharged to the community.
“This news, especially on this important day gives me joy and I am sure it does the same to you too.
“While we look forward to more great news from our effort to contain COVID-19, let us continue to do the right thing. Stay at home, practice social distancing, observe the highest possible personal hygiene and report suspicious cases to the appropriate persons,” he said.
The news of the recovered patients came in hours after the state announced the death of another patient from the disease.
As of Sunday, the state has 177 confirmed cases of coronavirus, 112 active cases, 55 recoveries, two evacuated cases, three transferred cases, and five deaths.
As at 9:30pm April 11, there were 318 confirmed cases of COVID-19 reported in Nigeria. Seventy have been discharged with 10 deaths.
