The controversial Catholic priest and spiritual director of
Adoration Ministry, Enugu, Rev. Fr. Ejike Mbaka, has made an about-turn by campaigning
for the re-election of President Muhammad Buhari saying a president who is
fighting against corruption needs to be supported.
It would be recalled that Mbaka’s romance with the president suffered a setback in exactly a year ago when he (Mbaka) during a special New Year’s Eve service at the Adoration Ground warned the president to change of Nigerians would change him.
“I had wanted to pray for you (Buhari) and go because I don’t want anybody to attack me, I don’t want the Bishop to invite me, I don’t want politicians to attack me anywhere. But God forced me, you must say it.
“Things are very, very difficult; hard and tough nowadays. The hardship is not from God, they are man-made.
“President Buhari must wake up and sit up immediately. Heaven demands Buhari, our President, to change all those who are holding and caging him in captivity. If he will not change them, he will be changed.
“Mr. President, wake up, sit up. God said you are toying with the privilege given to you. There is no time. Nigerians are dying in your hands. People are not happy with your system.
“Change or you will be changed – God said that Buhari is in trouble. Buhari is hypnotised. Buhari is in a horrible bondage,” said Mbaka on January 1, 2018.
But speaking during his New Year’s prophetic message and crossover service, the priest said “among all the presidential aspirants, Buhari stands in best position in winning the presidential election
He called on Nigerians to support the president to continue his fight against corruption saying the Catholic Church supports the fight against corruption and that was why it created “prayers against bribery and corruption.”
Mbaka listed Buhari’s achievements to include the construction of Enugu- Onitsha Expressway as well as the construction of second Niger Bridge.
He also applauded what he said was the agricultural revolution of the Buhari government, noting that “what happens in the ministry of agriculture such as massive production of rice is unprecedented in Nigeria agricultural history.
“In all this, we urge Nigerians to vote President Buhari in order to complete his eight years tenure and after which he will hand over to younger candidate,” he said.
Thereafter, the priest called on Nigerians to pray hard so that the country would overcome what he tagged ‘impending unimaginable difficulty’ in 2019.
He said the type of difficulty the country was going to face was such that has not been “witnessed in its 58 years history.”
“In all this, we urge Nigerians to vote President Buhari in order to complete his eight years tenure and after which he will hand over to younger candidate.”
