As Nigeria marks its 63rd independence anniversary, Bi-Courtney Aviation Services Limited (BASL) which manages the Murtala Muhammed Airport Terminal 2 (MMA2), Lagos said the facility is proof that effective collaboration between the government and private entities, or foreign direct investment (FDI) is achievable and holds promise for the future.
Spokesperson for BASL, Ms Ajoke Yinka-Olawuyi stated this in a statement in Lagos.
She said the terminal “has gained recognition for its exceptional passenger service, streamlined processes, swift check-ins, efficient baggage handling and modern cargo facility.
Passengers can navigate MMA2 with ease, reducing the stress associated with congestion and long queues that are characteristic of other Nigerian airports,” she said.
Yinka-Olawuyi also emphasised the benefits that airlines enjoy when operating from modern facilities, citing the presence of fully functional aviobridges and provision of buses for remote boarding.
The statement also quoted the president of the National Association of Nigeria Travel Agents (NANTA), Mrs Susan Akporiaye as commending the terminal for passenger facilitation, which, according to her “is devoid of unnecessary hassles.”
She also said the facility has the capacity to handle regional flights and urged the government to grant the approval for processing regional flights from the terminal.
The NANTA chief said the state-of-the-art regional facility at the terminal had been unutilised for over a decade, stressing that MMA2 represents a readily available solution to the capacity challenges faced at the international wing of Murtala Muhammed Airport.
Akporiaye also said the terminal’s commitment to exceptional customer service sets it apart and attested to its available amenities including spacious lounges, shopping, premium departure concierge services, art experience, and dining options.
