The elongated tenure of Mr. Mohammed Adamu as the inspector general of police has finally come to an end as President Mohammadu Buhari on Tuesday appointed a deputy inspector general of police, Mr. Usman Baba in acting capacity.
The minister of police affairs, Mr. Maigari Dingyadi, disclosed this to journalists in Abuja.
Baba is taking over from Adamu, whose tenure Buhari extended for three months on February 4.
He has only spent about two months out of the three-month extension.

Prior to his appointment, Baba was the deputy inspector-general of police, force criminal investigation department, force headquarters.
Born on March 1, 1963, in Geidam, Yobe state, and enlisted in the Nigeria Police Force on March 15, 1988, the acting IGP holds a teacher’s grade II certificate (TC II) from Teachers College, Potiskum, Yobe.
He has a bachelor’s degree in political science from Bayero University, Kano.
He also has a masters in public administration from the University of Maiduguri, Borno State.
